Abstract

1,030,354. Endless conveyer belts. JAMES DAWSON & SON Ltd. Feb. 8, 1965 [Feb. 14, 1964], No. 6331/64. Heading B8A. [Also in Division B5] An endless conveyer belt for use at high temperatures in a photo-printing machine, is formed from at least three plies 6, 7, 8, Fig. 4, of synthetic textile material bonded with silicone rubber, the outermost ply 8 being folded over the edges of the centre ply 7 to overlap the edges of the narrower inner ply 6. The material may be synthetic plastic cloth or glass cloth and the ply 6 or at least one inner layer may be weftless with the warp threads dsposed across the width of the belt. The belt may be initially made up by wrapping the plies on a former having a removable polyester film 5, Fig. 3 (not shown), to facilitate removal of the belt prior to the edge folding and curing operations. The curing may be carried out in stages, using first a press to carry out a step-by-step process between platens having their leading faces cooled to produce a temperature gradient. The synthetic material may require prior heat-treatment to ensure that no subsequent reduction in length takes place. Coating with a bonding agent may also be necessary.
