Abstract

1,030,334. Illuminating devices. M. C. HARLEY. July 27, 1964 [May 31, 1963], No. 21843/63. Heading F4R. A device for illuminating large plane areas, e.g. aircraft runways and roads comprises a lamp 2 associated with a primary reflector 1 to produce a parallel beam of light and an auxiliary reflector 3 which is a part figure of revolution with its axes parallel to the axis of the primary reflector for projecting the beam in a horizontal plane over an angle not greater than 180 degrees. The auxiliary reflector may be a part cone surrounded by a cylindrical window 5. Colour filter may be moved into the path of the light beam. The reflector 3 may have apertures 8 for the passage of air for cooling the lamp.
