Abstract

1,030,137. Portable drills. KANGO ELECTRIC HAMMERS Ltd. Oct. 16, 1964 [Oct. 23, 1963], No. 46399/65. Divided out of 1,030,137. Heading B3C. [Also in Division B4] A power-operated percussive tool comprises a striker 7 driven by a driver 6 which is reciprocated by an electric motor mounted on a housing 1, and an axially-slidable tool socket 54 adapted to receive interchangeable tools and be rotated by transmission means 23, 64, 65. The tool socket 54 is provided with a portion 62 formed with ratchet teeth which engage with corresponding teeth on a gear 64, the latter being rotated by means of a pinion 65 mounted on a shaft 23. The shaft is driven by the electric motor 2 via gears 28, 29 and an overload clutch 30. The gears 64, 65 are arranged to run in a sump of oil. The construction of the drive to the striker 7 is more fully described in Specification 1,020,137.
