Abstract

Stropping-apparatus.-In apparatus for sharpening and setting safety-razor blades a spring-controlled blade-holder g, capable of rocking, is mounted on brackets b by means of a bridge-piece i and a removable spindle h in such manner that, upon removal of the bridge-piece, the spindle can be withdrawn from the brackets and the blade-holder. The brackets are mounted upon a base a and serve to hold in position guides m<1> for a slide m carrying a holder o for a hone q. The holder o has curved surfaces s<1> or rollers u<1> adapted to engage with rollers u on an arm d upon the blade-holder, so that as the slide and hone are reciprocated, the arm is rocked, and, under the action of a spring e, the sides of the blade are applied alternately to the hone. The bed of the hone is made convex or of roof shape, or is provided with a fine wire z, so that the hone can tilt. Projections z<1> are adapted to engage fixed stops w for limiting the travel of the slide.
