Abstract

1,029,583. Protective suits. KERNFORSCHUNGSANLAGE-JULICH DES LANDES NORDRHEIN-WESTFALEN. C.V. April 3, 1964 [April 4, 1963], No. 13995/64. Heading A3V. The parts of a protective suit for use against radioactive dust are welded together along seams such as 16 and 23, the edges of an access opening 12 being welded together after the wearer has put on the suit. The opening 12 is formed by cutting one of the body parts 6 in two and welding placket strips 5 along edges 8 and 9, Fig. 4 (not shown). Curved portions 10 and 11 of the strips 5 are then welded together at 13, 14 respectively, Fig. 12. To relieve the access seam of strain fastening means such as press studs 26 or a sliding clasp fastener are provided on the strips 5 which are wide enough to allow re-sealing when the original seal has been cut off. Suggested material for the suit is transparent polyvinyl chloride sheet, the front part 1 of the hood having anti-misting characteristics.
