Abstract

1,029,316. Cutting-out labels. G. BUSCH, and W. LENFFER. June 10, 1964 [June 10, 1963], No. 23999/64. Heading B4B. In a machine for cutting-out labels having a stationary knife 22 and a ram 1 for pressing the label blanks against the knife, the ram is slidingly supported on guide rods 18, 19, 20, preferably mounted in roller sleeves 15, 16 and 17, and is connected through a universal joint 10 with the piston-rod 3 of a double-acting piston slidable within a pivotally-mounted cylinder 2. The limit of the stroke of the ram and the reversal of ram movement are controlled by a microswitch 35 operable by an abutment 34 adjustably mounted on the ram. The knife has a cutting edge 28, Fig. 4, at the end facing the ram, the other end of the knife being cylindrical and mounted in adjustable segmental blocks 24 to 27. Label blanks are supported on a rail 31. A shoot 32 is provided for scrap and a shoot 33 for cut-out labels. The mounting means for the knife may comprise a disc 40, Fig. 5, formed with an annular guide groove 41 into which are inserted slide pieces each connected to an adjustable spindle sleeve 49, 50, 51 or 52. Each spindle sleeve has lateral ears with arcuate slots formed therein to enable the spindle sleeve to be pivoted. Each spindle sleeve has a bent holding end formed with a step for receiving the knife. A separating knife 65, Fig. 10, is supported in the bifurcated end of a bolt the other end of which is held in one of a plurality of openings 71 in spindle sleeve 50. The knife 65 has a rounded end fitting into the arcuate bottom 68 of the bifurcated end of the bolt so that the knife can pivot in a vertical plane.
