Abstract
A composition for coating flexible sheet material, such as paper, comprises an animal, vegetable and/or mineral wax, such as a petroleum wax, with more than 3-5% and up to and including a predominate percentage by weight of a wax-compatible polymer which is very viscous (i.e. more viscous at the same temperature than a molten microcrystalline wax with a melting point between 60 DEG and 82 DEG ). The polymer may be a high molecular weight polymer and/or copolymer or a resin or in particularly high molecular weight copolymers of ethylene and vinyl acetate. An example is given of a composition containing 60% by weight of an adhesive petroleum microcrystalline-wax and 40% by weight of a resin comprising amorphous, high molecular weight copolymers of ethylene and vinyl acetate in the comonomer weight ratio of approx. 2:1; viscosities of the constituents and of the composition are given.ALSO:A composition for coating flexible sheet material such as paper comprises an animal vegetable and/or mineral wax, such as a petroleum wax, with more than 3-5% and up to and including a predominate percentage by weigh of a wax-compatible polymer which is very viscous (i.e. more viscous at the same temperature than a molten microcrystalline wax with a melting-point between 60 DEG and 82 DEG C.). The polymer may be a high molecular weight polymer and/or copolymer or a resin or in particular high molecular weight co-weight polymer and/or copolymer or a resin or in particular high molecular weight copolymers of ethylene and vinyl acetate. An example is given of a composition containing 60% by weight of an adhesive petroleum microcrystalline-wax and 40% by weight of a resin comprising amorphous, high molecular weight of copolymers of ethylene and vinyl acetate in the comonomer weight ratio of approx. 2 : 1; viscosities of the constituents and of the composition are given.
