Abstract

Pharmaceutical compositions comprise an active ingredient at least one indole derivative of formula <FORM:1028813/A5-A6/1> wherein R1 stands for hydrogen or an alkyl radical of not more than 3 carbon atoms, wherein R2 is alkyl or hydroxyalkyl of at least 3 and not more than 8 carbon atoms whose carbon skeleton is branched at the carbon atom adjacent to the nitrogen atom, or an acid addition salt thereof, in admixture with a carrier but including simple solutions of 2-isopropyl-amino-1-(1-methylindol-3-yl) ethanol. Other active ingredients are 2-t-butylamino-1-(1-methylindol-3-yl) ethanol and 2-(2-hydroxy-1, 1-dimethylethylamino)-1-(1-methylindol-3-yl) ethanol. The compositions may take the form of tablets, capsules, aqueous or oily solutions or suspensions, emulsions, injectable aqueous or oily solutions or suspensions or dispersible powders. Suspending agents, dispersing agents, animal or vegetable oils e.g. cod liver oil or ethyl oleate, emulsifiers, sweetening agents, preservatives and gelling agents e.g. aluminium stearate may be present in the formulations.
