Abstract

1,028,777. Electric heating of liquids. STRONGHEAT Ltd. Oct. 7, 1964 [Oct. 7, 1963], No. 39496/63. Heading H5H. [Also in Division F4] In a reservoir casing 1 for an electrically heated hot-water system for supplying water to wash basins a heating element 7 and a thermostat 8 are supported from the top of the casing and extend substantially vertically downwards. The heating element 7 is helically wound and extends to a point very close to the bottom of the casing and the rod-type thermostat 8 extends approximately axially within the turns of the element 7. The electrical connections to the element and thermostat are by way of 15 ampere capacity cables enclosed in a heatresistant sheath 9. The thermostat control of the heating element is preferably by way of a solenoid-operated relay but, if appropriate, the thermostat may be connected directly in series with the element. The casing 1 described in the Specification has a capacity of seven-eighths of a gallon, the heating element is rated at 3 kilowatts and the thermostat, which may be fixed or adjustable, keeps the water at about 120‹ F.
