Abstract

1,028,538. Hoppers. FRANZ CLOTH RHEINISCHE GUMMIWARENFABRIK A.G. Aug. 4, 1964 [Dec. 2, 1963], No. 30948/64. Heading B8S. A container for bulk material has disposed in a corner thereof a device for preventing the conglomeration of material in the container or for loosening conglomerated material, the device comprising a rigid base-plate 3 forming an angle adapted to that of the adjacent container walls and a diaphragm 1 of elastic material adapted to be inflated to the chain-dotted line position. The diaphragm 1 is clamped by screws 2 between bars 4 welded to the baseplate 3 and bars 5, such that the diaphragm covers the base-plate and provides a rim 6 which seals the gap between the container walls and the base-plate 3 when the device is fastened to the walls by screws 7. A compressed air inlet 9 and an outlet 10 are provided. The baseplate 3 is stiffened by ribs 11. A draw-valve 12 is connected to the diaphragm 1 by cords 13 so that if the diaphragm is inflated beyond the chain-dotted line position the valve 12 is opened to reduce the air pressure. The diaphragm is lightly prestressed along a zone thereof adjacent the bend zone of the base-plate and its wall thickness in this zone is increased. The diaphragm may be reinforced with fabric inserts having threads which extend obliquely of the prestressed bending zone.
