1,028,537. Straightening. COMPAGNIE DES ATELIERS ET FORGES DE LA LOIRE (St. Chomond-Firminy-St. Etienne-Jacob Holtzer). Aug. 4, 1964 [Aug. 1, 1963 (2)], No. 30644/64. Heading B3E. In order to remove any transverse camber or " tile effect " produced by the alternate bending of a metal strip by straightening rolls 2, 2<SP>1</SP>, the strip 1 is passed over a corrector roll 17 which is adjustably mounted horizontally and transversely of the strip and against which the strip is caused to bear by a larger roll 16. The roll 17 may be adjusted normally to the plane of the strip to a position where it is said to set up transverse stresses which cancel the transverse camber-producing stresses set up by the rolls 2, 21.
