Abstract

1,027,351. Bottling. ETABLISSEMENT VAPAVER. July 11, 1963 [July 12, 1962], No. 27445/63. Heading B8T. In a method and apparatus for filling containers with carbonated liquid under pressure, the container is initially subjected to an internal pressure approximating that of the carbonated liquid in a supply tank, and filling is then effected by a pump feeding the liquid from the tank to the container, the gas in the container being displaced by the incoming liquid. A tank 1, Fig. 1, not shown, containing soda water is pressurized by CO 2 , and a conduit 7 with a reducing valve 8 leads from the tank gas space to a filling station 18 to pressurize bottles to be filled. A pump 5 feeds the soda water to the filler via a conduit 6. The CO 2 fed to the bottles is either returned to the tank during their liquid filling or used for pressurizing subsequent bottles. In Fig. 2 (not shown), a tank 1 is fed with syrup from a container 31 and soda water from an impregnating machine 30 by a metering pump 16 via a conduit 15. The tank gas space is connected by a conduit 7 to nozzles 14 for pressurizing premix containers 20, and a pump 5 delivers liquid to the containers via nozzles 13. A filling head of a rotary filler, Fig. 3 (not shown), includes a liquid filling pipe 35, a gas pressure and return pipe 36, and a bottle sealing gasket 29. Control valves 37 and 38 and a gas exhaust valve 39 are provided.
