Abstract

1,027,334. Fluid filters. TECALEMIT (ENGINEERING) Ltd. July 12, 1963 [July 19, 1962], No. 27916/62. Heading B1T. A filter described with reference to an air cleaner for I.C. engines comprises a casing 1 having an inlet 8, an outlet 2 and steps 4, 5 carrying filter supports 9,10. As seen in the vertical plane shown in Fig. 1 the supports extend part way across the casing to form passages 11,12 for the air flow but in the vertical plane at right angles to this plane (Fig. 2, not shown) the supports extend the whole way across to rest at both ends upon the steps. A dividing wall 15 separates the supports 9,10 and the latter carry filter pads 13,14. The air on entering divides into two paths, one path including the pad 14 and passages 19,11 and the other path including passages 12, 21 and pad 13, the two paths re-joining in space 20. The pads are preferably formed of synthetic fibres, e.g. fibres of a copolymer of vinyl chloride and acrylonitrile as disclosed in Specification 1,027,333. Alternatively, the pads may be made of a sheet or a stack of sheets which may be pleated, of filter paper. A felt material could also be used.
