Abstract

1,027,170. Reversible disc ploughs. MASSEY-FERGUSON Inc. April 23, 1963 [April 27, 1962; June 4, 1962], No. 15921/63. Heading A1B. A reversible disc plough for attachment to a tractor hitch linkage 12, 13 comprises a plough beam 23 mounted on a frame 20 and swingable from side to side and carrying a plurality of posts 42 on which are mounted discs 40 which are free to perform a partial rotation between limits so that the discs are moved into their proper angles of attack upon engagement with the ground. As shown the beam is moved by the alternate engagement of a pair of arms 71 with a plate 83 attached to a toggle plate 80 which pivots on a pin 81 as the plough is raised by the linkage 12, 13. The plough beam 23 is locked in position by a pin attached to a lever 93 which is raised to release the beam by a lever 100 provided with an adjustable abutment 103 which abuts against the top link 13 as the plough is raised. A furrow wheel assembly 5 is pivotally mounted at the rear end of the beam and can be tilted about a fore and aft axis and is maintained in correct working position by a link 51. When not in use a stand 115 is used to support the plough and a foot 156 is provided with a latch 172 which engages on the link 51 when the plough is working.
