Abstract
1,026,701. Electromedical apparatus. A. MANFREDI. July 19, 1963 [July 23, 1962], No. 28644/63. Heading A5R. An electrical device for treating deafness with symmetrical radio frequency current pulses spaced by an amount not greater than the pulse width comprises a radio frequency oscillator ORF, the output of which is modulated by an audio frequency current derived from the secondary coil of a transformer T, the primary coil of which is connected to an audio frequency oscillator OFA, the radio frequency oscillator being monitored by a cathode ray oscilloscope. The anode of an oscillator valve V of a radio frequency oscillator ORF is fed, through a transformer T and a variable resistor RV, with amplified audio frequency current generated by an audio frequency oscillator OFA or a microphone M. The modulated output current is monitored by a cathode ray oscilloscope ORC and fed to electrodes E which are applied to the skin. The electrodes either make conductive contact with the skin or are insulated therefrom. A low frequency oscillator (Fig. 4 not shown) may also be connected to the electrodes through a switch, so that low frequency current or radio frequency pulses may be fed selectively to the electrodes.
