1,026,651. Boring earth, &c. SCHOELLERBLECKMAN STAHLWERKE A.G. Feb.27, 1963 [March 10, 1962], No. 7939/63. Heading E1F. A drill collar 1 has annular grooves 3 adjacent the ends, the grooves being spaced from the adjacent end shoulder 5 or face 7 of the collar by three to five times the external diameter of the collar, the width of a groove being two to four times the external diameter of the collar, and the depths of the grooves being such that the cross sectional area of the collar is reduced by up to 50%.
