Abstract

Potassium chloride, sulphate or carbonate is granulated by tumbling in admixture with 15-50% of ammonium nitrate and/or urea at 45-180 DEG C. in a rotating cylindrical drum. An 88-95% ammonium nitrate solution or a eutectic mixture of ammonium nitrate and urea may be employed. Hot air at 190-220 DEG C. may be passed through the drum. The granules may have a particle size of 0.062-0.25 inch. 75-80% of the granules may be recycled as fines or ground oversize granules. The granular product may be blended with mono-ammonium phosphate or ammonium sulphate/nitrate.
