Abstract

1,025,642. Drying apparatus. 4-MINUTE CAR WASH CO. Ltd. Feb. 6, 1963 [June 5, 1962], No. 21603/62. Heading F4G. Apparatus for drying wet cars comprises a gantry-shaped frame 1 defining a space 8 for the cars formed from a top member 2 and spaced uprights 3, 4, designed to run on rails 5 by wheels 6, 7. The uprights vertically mount elongated air outlet nozzles 14, 15 thereon respectively and the member 2 horizontally mounts a nozzle 16, each of the nozzles being supplied through its own air duct 30, 31, 29 having a two-stage axial fan 27, 28, 26 respectively mounted therein. The air from each nozzle has associated means to vary the direction of the air blast therefrom relative to the frame, which comprise deflector flaps 21, 22 operable by pneumatic cylinders in the case of the nozzles 14, 15 and an arcuate deflector 19 whose orientation with respect to the axis of the nozzle 16 is variable by pneumatic cylinders 20.
