A ceiling or wall comprises one or more lengths of flexible sheet material 14 detachably secured along two opposed edges 16 to rigid girders or strips 10. The sheet 14 may be of transparent, translucent or opaque plastic, fabric or rubber and be formed with thickened bands either integral or bonded to the sheet to engage channels 18 formed in the girders 10 suspended by ties 12 from a roof or true ceiling. Where two sheets abut, a capping strip may cover the joint and a radiused cone cover an edge to wall joint. A second girder 12 may be placed above the first girder 12 to provide for spaced sheets where diffused lighting is required.
