Abstract

1,024,566. Endless conveyers. KOPPERS CO. Inc. April 17, 1963 [April 26, 1962], No. 15184/63. Heading B8A. [Also in Division B6] An endless conveyer 33, Figs. 2 and 3, for feeding a continuous web of corrugated cardboard 27 from manufacturing apparatus, Fig. 1 (not shown), has suction applied to orifices 61 communicating with longitudinal and lateral grooves 62 on the feeding surface thereof. The suction originating from a suction pump or fan 41 is first applied to a plurality of grooves 48 extending longitudinally of the conveyer support table 39, Fig. 3, via plenum chamber 42 and conduits 43, 46. It is then applied via slots 60 in a flat continuous band 38 within the loop of the conveyer 33, and chambers 53 formed between cleats 34 and the solid runs of the conveyer 33, to the orifices 61 communicating with the conveyer surface. The conveyer is driven by toothed wheels 36, 37. In two other embodiments, Figs. 8-13 (not shown), air is withdrawn from the sides of the belt assembly rather than from beneath the belt assembly as in the previous embodiment.
