Abstract

1,024,017. Opening containers. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. Nov. 8, 1962 [Nov. 10, 1961], No. 42282/62. Heading B8D. A container 1 of thermoplastic material has a tear strip 3 of metal which is inserted in the mould before formation of the container in such a way that the strip lies around, and in the same plane as the upper surface of, the container rim except that at the point where one end 7 emerges, it is depressed, thereby avoiding interference with a weld 6 between a flange on the rim and a container lid 4. The container is injection moulded and may be of polystyrene, P.V.C., copolymer of vinyl chloride and polyolefines. The metal strip may be of copper, brass, steel or tinned iron. The containers may be of circular, oval or square cross-section.
