A device for exercising dogs comprises a telescopic post 10, 11 adapted to be supported upright and having at its upper end a laterally extending cam 16, 17 from which a ball is suspended by means of a cord, chain or the like. The post is supported in a base plate 13 having a downwardly extending pin 15 which is pushed into the ground and a pin 14 which fits into the lower end of the post. The post may alternatively be driven into the ground or provided with a base support which rests on the ground.
