Abstract

1,023,592. Storing liquefied gas. METAL CONTAINERS Ltd. Oct. 23, 1964 [Oct. 24, 1963], No. 41992/63. Heading F4P. At least a portion of the wall of a liquid propane or butane container 10, Fig. 1 (not shown), is porous and is sealed by a lining, coating or a closure member 18 of material which is gas-tight at room temperature but which becomes leaky at between 100‹ and 150‹ C., thereby allowing escape of gas and preventing an undue pressure rise in the container. The container wall is formed of resin impregnated glass fibre wound with spaced turns and the portion not sealed by member 18 is provided with an impermeable coating or lining. The sealing member, coating or lining may comprise a mixture of flexible epoxy resin, polysulphide plasticizer and amine hardener. Alternatively, the seal may comprise a polyester based on isophthalic acid or adipic acid catalysed with methylethylketon peroxide and plasticized with polysulphide.
