Abstract

1,023,258. Vehicle brake mechanisms. TRACTOR RESEARCH Ltd. Sept. 1, 1964, No. 35782/64. Heading F2E. A tractor brake-operating mechanism comprises independantly operable left and righthand pedal-operated brake-actuating levers I and 2 having radial parts, 7 and 8, respectively, one being secured to a rockable shaft to actuate a brake rod (not shown) and the other being freely rotatable thereon to actuate a brake rod coupled thereto, a master pedal-operated lever 9 to effect simultaneous operation of said levers having a portion 10 rotatable on the shaft 3 and extending radially therefrom between the parts 7 and 8, and a balance control lever 11 movable with and pivotable about the master lever portion 10 to engage the parts 7 and 8, thereby equally sharing the applied braking pressure of the master lever therebetween. Master lever portions 9 and 10 are hinged at 17 to permit swivelling of the pedal 16 from the inactive position, shown in broken line in Fig. 1 to the operative position, a stop plate 1,* attached to lever portion 10 forming a limiting abutment. The balance lever 11 is pivoted at 14 about an axis extending lengthwise of the lever portion 10 in a yoke 15 secured to said portion as illustrated in Fig. 3 (not shown).
