Abstract
1,022,991. Electromagnetic relays. SPERRY GYROSCOPE CO. Ltd., and R. B. LAWRENCE. March 9, 1962 [March 10, 1961], No. 8836/61. Heading H2B. A relay has at least one pair of contacts such as 1, 2, or 3, 4, biased closed, and an armature 10 movable rectilinearly and carrying an insulating separator 9 which is forced between the contacting surfaces to open the contacts. Separator 9 is a thin-walled cylindrical member coaxial with the cylinder 13 forming the relay casing, and has a plurality of holes 21, 22, allowing the contact pins to meet therethrough when the separator is in one of its two positions, corresponding to energizing or de-energizing of the relay coil 11. Spring strips 16 of spiral shape bias the armature 10 towards a stop 15. The relay terminals 24 support springs carrying the contact pairs 1, 2, and 3, 4, the method of connection to the terminals 24 being fully described and claimed in Specification 1,022,992, divided from the present Specification. The armature edge is coated with P.T.F.E. and is bevelled slightly.
