Abstract

102,246. Smith, A., and Perks, T. Nov. 19, 1915. Stop-motions, weft.-In looms for weaving two or more fabrics simultaneously in which the shuttles arc driven positively, each shuttle is provided with a stop-motion feeler lever 30, Fig. 4, normally supported by the weft in the shuttle, and with a curved bar 38, which guides and tensions the weft so that the length from the bobbin to the eye is kept nearly constant. The lever 30 is loosely pivoted in the side of the shuttle and has an aperture adapted to be held in register, by the passage of the weft therethrough, with an opening 30a in the shuttle. When the weft in either shuttle breaks, the corresponding lever falls and a projection 30<b> thereon actuates a sliding bracket 31 on a rod 34 or 34<a> connected to a twoarmed lever 35 having a projection 35<b> adapted to be moved into position to act upon a bunter-lever 40 to stop the loom. From the bar 38, the weft passes under a bent central portion 39<b> of a spring- controlled braking-bar 89 acting on the coil 37 of weft. According to the Provisional Specification, the bearings for the weft bobbins may be made of leather.
