Abstract
1,022,436. Casting processes. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. Oct. 2, 1964 [Oct. 10, 1963; Aug. 27, 1964], No. 40287/64. Heading B3F. Ingots, e.g. of uranium carbide, with equiaxial crystallization and fine grains are made by melting and casting granules of the material concerned which are less than 1 mm. in diameter and have been made by melting and solidification. The granules 12 are melted in an electron beam furnace 1 and the continuous casting mould assembly is rotated by drive 22 through gears 18, 20, Fig. 1 (not shown).
