Abstract
1,020,566. Pneumatic conveyers; unloading ships. CEMENTI ELBA S.p.A., C.E.S.A. Nov. 27, 1962 [Dec. 5, 1961], No. 44767/62. Headings B8A and B8E. Apparatus for discharging cement &c. from containers, such as the holds of watercraft, comprises inclined channels 8, Fig. 2, with porous floors for fluidizing the material which flows towards conduits 20 leading to a mechanical elevator 21. The material is delivered to a sealing valve 22, Fig. 7 (not shown), in a sealed central compartment 4 of the hold, where it is fed into a pneumatic conveyer line 23. The hold is divided into sealed compartments 2, 3 having separate supplies of fluidizing air through pipes 16 to manifolds 14 associated with separate groups of channels, the air supply being controlled in groups or separately by valves 13, 15. A dust removal separator 28 is coupled to the compartments 2, 3 and elevator 21 through pipelines 25, 26, 27 arranged in inverted V-form to prevent accumulation of dust in the pipelines.
