Abstract

Various disazo dyes are used in dyeing processes, many being specifically described. The dyes are of formula A-N = N-B-N = N-D in which A and D are naphthol or phenol derivatives, B is a divalent radical having two substituted or unsubstituted benzene or naphthalene rings which are joined by a direct link or a divalent atom or group, or through a direct link and a divalent atom or group, each of the said naphthalene or benzene rings is connected to one of the azo groups. The dyes are free from acidic water solubilizing groups. For examples see the table.ALSO:Polyester and cellulose acetate materials are dyed using dyes of the general formula A-N=N-B-N=N-D in which A and D are napthol or phenol derivatives and B is a divalent radical having two substituted or unsubstituted benzene or naphthalene rings which are joined by a direct link, or through a divalent atom or group or through a direct link and a divalent group or atom and wherein each of the said benzene or naphthalene rings is connected to one of the azo groups, provided that A, B and D are free from acidic water-solubilising groups.
