Yarn severing mechanism for a circular knitting-machine comprises a fixed blade 12 and a pneumatically vibrated blade 13 connected to a piston 17 of a pneumatic vibrator housed in a cylinder 16 in a block 11 to which is attached the fixed blade 12. The block 11 is slidably supported and is adapted to be lowered by a lever 25 to move the blades into an operative position between the needles and the welt hooks and simultaneously open a valve controlling the air supply to the cylinder.
