A device for deodorising and/or reodorising the atmosphere of a room comprises an external casing (forming a duct for a flow of air and having a vent in it out of which the air can flow); a detachable reservoir for a body of solid deodorant and/or reodorant chemical, inserted into an opening in the casing, the detachable reservoir being of such a size as to permit free flow of air around it in the duct; heating means within the casing situated near the detachable reservoir whereby the whole body of solid deodorant and/or reodorant chemical is heated, when the device is in use, to vaporise some of the deodorant and/or reodorant chemical from its surface; and fan means to expel the vapour from within the casing through the vent into the air of the room. The heating means is usually an electrical heating element which may be controlled by a switching device which also controls the operation of the fan; the switching device may be automatically or manually operated. The Figure shows a preferred device of the invention comprising a metal casing 1, heating means 10 in the form of a grille, impeller fan 8 driven by an electric motor 5, a reservoir 12 for the deodorant material, in the form of a wire cage container, an open end 3 and a protective wire mesh grille 4 at the opposite end. The grille 10, which serves to vaporise the deodorant material, is so positioned such that if the reservoir 12 were withdrawn the device would function as a space heater. In another device illustrated in Figs. 1 and 3 of the drawings accompanying the provisional Specification (not shown), the detachable reservoir is in the form of a tray which is mounted over an electrically heated coil and beneath an impeller fan and grille vent assembly.
