Abstract
1,019,883. Silencing compressors. DANFOSS A/S. Nov. 15, 1962 [Nov. 28, 1961], No. 43312/62. Headings FIB and F1N. The cylinder 14, Fig. 1, of an electric motor driven reciprocating compressor is integral with a plurality of muffler chambers 20-25, Fig. 2 arranged in ring formation so as to completely surround and form an open-ended crankcase 26. A casting 19 having inner and outer walls 27, 28 separated by radial walls 29 and providing the muffler chamber is bolted against the end face of a motor support 6 and the end of the crankcase remote from the motor is substantially closed by a counterweight 11. Chambers 20, 21, 22 are connected in series by apertures 31, 32 in walls 29 and to the pump inlet through an opening 30 in wall 28 and chambers 23, 24, 25 are similarly arranged and the two sets of chambers are arranged in parallel. In a modification the casting 19<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, is integral with the motor support 6<SP>1</SP> and shaft bearing 8<SP>1</SP> and the open end remote from the motor is closed by an end plate 37 which also closes the end of the crankcase 26<SP>1</SP> and provides a housing for an oil pump 39 housing an inlet 41.
