A pack for ampoules has a base 4 and cover 2 with inwardly pressed portions 20 for cushioning the ends of the ampoules which pass through perforations 30 in two intermediate walls 6, 8, The impressed portions 20 preferably have embossed reinforcing ribs 21 (Fig. 5, not shown) and the perforations have at least three tabs 31 to hold the ampoules in position. In an alternative embodiment the perforations in the intermediate walls are formed as in Fig. 7 (not shown). Tabs 9, 10a, 12, 13 maintain the walls 6, 8 in position. The pack may be enclosed in a sliding cover as a matchbox. For additional dampening effects strips of synthetic foam material or cotton wool are disposed on the inner surfaces of the base 4 and cover 2. A plurality of such inserts may be placed in a common sliding cover or box.
