Abstract

An air cleaning filter element, for an I.C. engine intake, comprises a sleeve of nylon fibres, randomly oriented and bonded by P.V.C., axially bounded by two resilient, polyvinyl-chloride sealing rings in which some of the fibres are embedded. The element may be of circular, square or rectangular cross-section, and may comprise three layers (16, 17, 18) of fibres of different denier supported by an internal perforated metal cylinder (12) whose perforated end flanges (14) are embedded in the sealing rings. The sealing rings may have concentric ribs (22, 23), and the element may be coated with oil.
