Abstract

773,054. Filters. KNECHT, A. Oct. 24, 1955 [Nov. 30, 1954], No. 30305/55. Class 46. [Also in Group XXIX] A tubular pleated-paper filter element 24, Fig. 1, is removably secured to an internallythreaded flanged pipe 15 by being pushed over the tongued portion 19 of a spring sleeve 17 which is secured to a flange 16 on the pipe. The assembly, including a " grasping rod " 14, is then applied over a supporting bolt 7, Fig. 1, having transverse outlet holes 9 communicating with a threaded bore 5 constituting the outlet of a fuel tank 3, and is secured to it by screwing the pipe 15 onto the upper threaded end 8 of the bolt. This action displaces an elastic sealing ring 13, Fig. 1, from a rounded groove 12 where it obturates the holes 9 to a position, Fig. 2, around a tapering surface 11 continuous with the groove, at the same time compressing it. On removal of the assembly the sealing ring springs back into the groove.
