Jan. 28, 1916 Wire brushes; pads and like polishing-appliances, -A cleaning or polishing appliance for use in cleaning files &c. comprises an expansible core member enveloped by an endless strip of abrasive fabric, card-cloth, chain burnisher, emery or sand paper, &c. In the construction shown, the core member comprises a pair of co-operating wedges a, a<1>. A shield D is placed over the inoperative face to protect the hand when in use. The fabric is adjustable relatively to the core member. The core may be formed of elements held apart by one or more springs.
