Abstract
Aqueous formaldehyde solutions are stabilized by formoguanamine of the formula <FORM:1017698/C2/1> or its derivatives obtained by substituting the hydrogen atom on carbon No. 6 with an alkyl, alkylaryl, aryl, fully or partially hydrogenated aryls, anilino-alkyl, N-alkyl substituted anilino-alkyl or an aryl ortho-substituted with a guanamine radical, and/or by partially or completely substituting the hydrogen atoms of the amino groups with alkyls, aryls, substitute-aryls, fully or partially hydrogenated aryls, hydroxyls or hydroxyalkyls. The stabilizer is used in amounts from 0.01 to 5 parts by weight per 100 parts of solution. It may be added at 20 to 100 DEG C., and at a pH of from 3 to 5.
