Abstract
1,017,319. Accordion type slidable doors. HOUGH MANUFACTURING CORPORATION. June 3, 1964 [June 5, 1963], No. 22973/64. Heading E1J. In an accordion-type foldable sliding door having upper and lower lazy tongs mechanism covered with inner and outer coverings 55, 56, each including a plurality of vertically extending multi-ply slats pivoted together by means of the inner and outer sheets 55, 56 adhered to opposite faces of the slats vertically extending pads of compressible sound insulating fibre glass 60 of width not exceeding that of the slats are fixed to the inner faces of the covering sheets. The wide slats have one ply thereof formed from thin sheet metal 50 folded over at its edges 53 as shown in Fig. 4 or bent along a central longitudinal line as shown in Fig. 10 to impart stiffness thereto as described and claimed in Specification 1,017,320. Each metal sheet 50 is covered on the outer side with sheets of cardboard or chipboard 51, 54, Fig. 4, or 151, Fig. 10. The meeting edges of the doors and jambs are provided with magnetically operated draught excluders. Flexible sealing skirts are attached to and project from the upper and lower edges of the coverings.
