Abstract

1,192,894. Foldable doors. LOUVERDRAPE, Inc. 25 Oct.. 1968 [31 Jan., 1968], No. 50689/68. Heading EIJ. A foldable door or covering for windows &c. is made up of interengaging seats having integral hinge elements one of which, 12 is semicylindrical and the other is in the form of a retaining flange 14 for receiving the element 12 of the adjacent slat when the door is expanded Fig. 2 and the element 12 is retained in the flange 14 by a depending lip 15 and said lip 15 is retained in the semi-circular element 12 when the door is in the retracted or compacted position, Fig. 4. A serpentine leaf spring 17 or a series of shorter bow springs (Fig. 6 and 7 not shown) are positioned with the retaining flange 14 and maintained in place by a tip 16 on the flange 14 and the spring 17 engages the element 12. The panels are suspended from carriers slidable manually or by cords and pulleys along overhead guides.
