Abstract

1,017,223. Magnetic playback heads; television. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGSGESELLSCHAFT m.b.H. Sept. 7, 1962 [Sept. 12, 1961], No. 21458/63. Divided out of 1,013,349. Heading G5R. For playing back directly recorded picture signals (i.e. without frequency-modulation) from a helical-wrap type magnetic tape (particularly in the arrangement described in Specification 1,013,349) a head with a first, laminated magnetic circuit of generally D-shape with a gap 37 is cladded with further laminations 35 associated with a high-inductance, lowfrequency winding 32 and with a pair of ferrite members 33, associated with a winding 34 resonating at some 2 Mc/s. To achieve adequate low-frequency response, the magnetic circuit 31, 35, is so arranged in the head-carrier (not shown) that the helicallywrapped tape engages the circuit for substantially half a turn; the region under the winding 32 may also be equipped with a window and supplementary winding of known type to make the head partially flux-sensitive. In a further embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown) the ferrites extend proud of the laminations and incorporate the playback gap and the tapewrapping surface.
