Abstract

1,016,852. Yarns: yarn processing. PARAYARN ELASTIC CO. Nov. 5, 1962 [March 20, 1962], No. 41670/62. Heading D1F and D1W. The method of making a truly balanced elastic yarn C comprises helically winding an untwisted, inelastic cover thread A about an untwisted, elastic core filament B. When thread A and filament B are wound on spools 10 and 12 they are twisted so as to cancel out the eventual twist produced in there when they are end unwound from the spools. By untwisted it is meant with regard to thread A that it is not twisted during formation of yarn C rather than that the constituent fibres thereof are not intertwisted. In an Example filament B is a spandex yarn having a potential 600 per cent elongation and is stretched and permanently set to about a 300% elongation by virtue of the air resistance during winding from spool B. Thread A may be of cotton.
