[Also in Divisions A3 and B5] In making a combination fabric of an inexpansible wool and/or cotton material and a generally expansible knitted fabric laminated together by an adhesive, the latter is applied in discrete area spaced from # to <SP>1</SP>/ 2 inch, preferably 3/8 inch by means of a roller 21 which is formed with a series of shallow indentations 40. The roller dips into a pan containing the liquid adhesive which may be a thermosetting acrylic base type, and is wiped by a doctor blade 36 which may be flexible. The indentations may be regular, diamond shaped, elliptical or zig zag. A back-up roller presses the wool or cotton material against the adhesive roller and may carry a flexible coating. Skew controlling rollers set the angle of advance of the material (Fig. 1 not shown).
