1,015,954. Extruding reinforced synthetic plastic tubes. SOC. INDUSTRIELLE DES SILICONES. Dec. 7, 1962 [Dec. 7, 1961], No. 46292/62. Heading B5A. In a process for continuously extruding synthetic plastic tubes having a tubular reinforcement, e.g. a silicone based elastomeric tube having a braided glass fibre reinforcement, the reinforcement is guided on a fixed rod 3 to an extrusion die 2 where it passes on to a mandrel 8 of the desired cross-section and is there coated with synthetic plastic material. At the end remote from the extruder the guide rod is bent to form an S and is supported by pulleys 4, 5, Fig. 1 (not shown), which are driven to cause movement of the tubular reinforcement along rod 3 while the latter remains stationary. The extrusion head is provided with a torpedo 17 having an inlet 18, e.g., from a screw feed, and an air vent 15.
