Abstract
1,015,883. Pneumatic dashpots. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. Feb. 12, 1963 [Feb. 21, 1962], No. 5719/63. Heading F2S. [Also in Division H2] A pneumatic time delay mechanism has a restricted helical passage 105 formed between the external thread of a member 69 and the internal thread of a block 55. The time delay is adjusted by rotating member 69 by means of a handle 109 to alter the length of the passage 105. The delay mechanism has three chambers 95, 97 and 99. Chamber 97 is connected to the atmosphere by a filtered passage, to chamber 99 by helical passage 105 and to chamber 95 by two passages 101. A valve 79, Fig. 3, not shown, carried by a push rod 71 is biased into engagement with a seat 74 of bellows 73 by a spring 83. The rate of descent of the rod 71 is determined by the length of the helical passage. In an alternative arrangement the delay mechanism is modified by arranging the valve on the other side of the bellows seat so that the ascent of the push rod is retarded.
