Abstract

1,015,511. Direct connections between conductors. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 13, 1962 [Aug. 16, 1961], No. 30956/62. Heading H2E. [Also in Division H1] The connecting wires of an electric component, e.g. a capacitor, are locally deformed so that they fit tightly in apertures in a printed circuit board. As shown, Fig. 3, the wires of a capacitor are locally deformed to the starshaped cross-section shown in Fig. 2. The wires are inserted in apertures 15 in a printed circuit board 14, and the deformations are prevented from passing right through the apertures by the engagement of the body of the capacitor with board 14. The wires may be dip soldered to the printed wiring 16 or may have extending wires to connect to other components, Fig. 4 (not shown). A component, which may also be a resistor or a diode, may be placed horizontally and have longitudinal end wires which are bent radially to engage the printed circuit board, Fig. 5 (not shown). The deformations may consist of three, five or seven uniformly spaced projections.
