Abstract

1,015,147. Valves. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. May 4, 1964 [May 16, 1963], No. 19523/63. Heading F2V. In a discharge valve for a reciprocating compressor, the closure member comprises a flexible tongue 15 located at one end between the valve plate 4 and a pressure cast cover member 9, the cover member being provided with a support surface 18 having a contour conforming with the natural deflected shape of the tongue. The fixed end of the tongue may be T-shaped and may be located by pins 16 extending from plate 4, a spring clip 17 being interposed between the tongue and the cover. Suitable materials for the cover member are aluminium or zinc alloy. A suction valve 12, at right-angles to the tongue 15, may be provided, this valve being a similar tongue-like member trapped at one end between the plate 4 and the cylinder flange.
