Abstract

1,015,126. Boring earth &c. BERGWERKSVERBAND G.m.b.H. Aug. 31, 1962 [Sept. 1, 1961], No. 33463/62. Heading E1F. A core bit comprises a rotatable boring tube and a core receiving tube which is held against rotation with the boring tube by rods extending beyond the mouth of the hole being drilled by the bit. A pin on the inside of core receiving tube marks the core to facilitate checking of the orientation of the parts of the core. The torque on the rods due to friction may be counterbalanced by a torque applied to the rods outside the hole. The rods and tubes may be formed so that the rods and core receiving tube may be withdrawn from the hole without removing the boring tool.
