Abstract

1,015,118. Indicating liquid levels. SAKURA SOKKI KABUSHIKI KAISHA. June 25, 1963 [July 4, 1962], No. 25233/63. Heading G1H. In an apparatus for indicating the level of a liquid 2 in a tank 1 a float 3, resting on liquid 2, is attached by a perforated tape 4 to a sprocket 7 driven by a motor 31 and the liquid level is indicated by a pointer 10 driven by a jockey pulley 8 or a pointer 17 also driven by the jockey pulley 8 through gears 11, 12, 14 and 16. A coupling 20, driven by the pulley 8 drives a transmitter 19 for remote indication. A further jockey pulley 23,loaded by a spring 24, is connected to an armature 28 movable with respect to a core 27 having differentially wound coils 25, 26 and the arrangement is such that as the tape 5 is tightened or slackened as the float 3 is moved by a change in liquid level the armature 28 is moved to upset the balance in coils 25, 26 which effect the passage of a current through an amplifier 30 to drive the motor 31 in a clock or anti-clockwise direction which the tape 4 is returned to its normal tautness and the armature is returned to the balancing position between the coils 25, 26.
