Abstract
1,014,663. Dynamo-electric machine winding constructions. SOC. D'ELECTRONIQUE ET D'AUTOMATISME. Jan. 28, 1963 [Jan. 29, 1962], No. 3412/63. Heading H2A. In an electrical rotating machine armature comprising planar winding conductors 10 arranged in a predetermined pattern in two layers and regularly connected by their ends from one layer to the other to complete the winding pattern, the conductor material is ductile and has a smaller weight-to-conductivity ratio than copper, e.g. aluminium, and provided on at least one face of the armature are a plurality of copper commutator conductors 11 applied over parts 13 of the winding conductors and individually connected to corresponding portions thereof. The armature may be either discoidal, as shown, or of the linear or cylindrical type, and minimizes the size of press required to form the winding conductors whilst maintaining a good commutation surface. Both sets of conductors may be either coined or embossed to leave webs which are removed by etching, shearing, or grinding, then soldered or welded together, and adhered to an insulating sheet 23. In Fig. 5a, not shown, each commutator conductor covers four winding conductors but is connected only to one.
