Abstract
1,014,445. Casting composite articles. CHEMISCHE WERK BUNA VEB. April 30, 1964, No. 17984/64. Heading B3F. A casting mould for the aluminothermic joining of vertically positioned butt-ended bars has a cavity including two facing truncated cones 10, 11, the lower one being at least twice as long as the upper, the inlet 6 for the molten metal being lower than the junction of the two truncated cones, an upper chamber 12, and a lower annular channel 13 leading to a collector chamber 15. The mould may be made by the CO 2 process or of fire-clay, graphite, magnesite &c.
